Welcome to the Inserm Unit - U1259 MAVIVHe website

MAVIVH is a multidisciplinary team, involving researchers or teachers-researchers in virology, biochemistry, cell biology and public health. Most of them are also hospital practitioners, strengthening the link between the research unit and the university hospital. Our team concentrates on elucidating clue steps in the intracellular traffic and notably morphogenesis of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the different hepatitis viruses (HBV, HCV, HEV), and emerging viruses. We also study the impact of the genomic variability of these viruses on infection outcomes such as escape to the humoral and innate immune system, leading to chronic evolution, as well as pathogenesis or antiviral treatment resistance. The unit takes benefit of its expertise in viral morphogenesis to generate subviral particles as a concept for new original vaccine strategies.
